How To: An at home organic facial for glowing & healthy skin (vol. 2)

July 7, 2016

This is my second post in the new series on how I use different green beauty skin products to create at home facial treatments that stand up to the spas! I have always loved going to get a facial. However, now I just don’t have the time or the money. Thankfully, it is a lot cheaper and economical to purchase high quality skin care products to have a facial (many spa days) at home. These spa treatments usually come with a few steps so I have put together this mini article to show you what products I used this time to pamper myself and boost my skin. I also added links to the product websites for you to link to if you see something you like (just pure skin love shared for you!).

Step 1: Clean Living Collection Chamomile Rose Cold Cream Cleanser:

How to/Benefits:

This little diddy is a new method of skin cleansing for me. If you’ve followed my blog, you know I’m obsessed with oil cleansing and generally don’t stray from this method as its drastically improved my skin quality over the years. However, this method of cleansing has similarities as itsdrastically improved my skin quality over the years. However, this method of cleansing has similarities as it doesn’t strip oils or natural moisture from your skin, but adds it back in.

I like to keep my cold cream in the fridge so the cooler temperature helps reduce any inflammation from my face as well. You simply rub this cream all over your face (it will take your makeup off!) and then use a cloth to rub off the excess and voila! I notice a glow to my skin when I use this cream to cleanse and really wanted to share it with you all as an alternative way of cleaning your face!

Step 2: Skinny Coconut oil sugar scrub

Where to find:

How to/Benefits:

I am usually one to use non-manual exfoliants like lactic acid serums to exfoliate as some manual exfoliants can be too harsh on your skin. However, this scrub (which is usually meant for a body scrub) has done wonders for my face too! It is a mix of sugar cane, vanilla bean and their organic cold pressed coconut oil (my absolute favourite coconut oil brand). From what I’ve noticed, the coconut oil
helps reduce the abrasion from the sugar and lightly but very efficiently scrubs off dead cells from the surface of your skin. My Skin always looks luminous after this as the coconut oil also penetrates the skin to create a dewy finish.

This brand has so many beautiful coconut oil skin care products its unbelievable.. My next purchase will be their whipped body butter which I am sure will be a welcome treat for my summer skin!

Step 3: Illuminating Viridescent Mask by Clean Living Collection:

Where to find:

How to/Benefits:

THIS! This mask is pure magic.. I had to restrain myself from using it everyday so it would last me a little longer. I have always had a touch of extra redness in my skin and have never enjoyed that. This mask has some serious super powers as its the only mask that has ever completely balanced my skin tone and rid my face of its redness. Completely gone! My skin feels so soft, supple, moisturized, and calm after using this!

It’s made with a lot of high quality ingredients including Manuka honey at a therapeutic grade (UMF 16+) and organic Spirulina. Spirulina is an algae that has some potent detoxifying abilities and is very high in chlorophyl. While the Manuka is soothing, an anti-inflammatory, and enhances skin elasticity and cell regeneration (anti-aging). This was probably my favourite product from this line and I will be hooked forever!

You simply apply a layer all over your skin and leave it on for at least 20 minutes. I sometimes leave it on for longer because I adore the benefits it gives my skin!

Step 4: Sweet Dreams Night Cream by Willow & Birch Apothecary:

Where to find:

Sweet Dreams Night Cream – Moisturizing Face Cream for Natural Beauty

How to/Benefits:

This is a new cream that I’ve been testing out over the last month or so. Night creams are meant to wear while you sleep as they’re generally more dense than other moisturizers. They are a very important step in your skin care routine as an extra punch of nutrients and moisture at night while your skin naturally repairs itself! You’re giving it a little boost!

This particular cream is a blend of sweet almond oil, local catskill mountains beeswax, vegetable glycerin, shea butter, lavender essential oil, and patchouli essential oil. All of these ingredients are 100% natural and will boost your skins ability to regenerate and renew as well as let your skin drink some extra juice overnight! It is slightly thicker than other face creams (which I love) and once I wake up in the morning my face is glowing. I also recommend this after a facial as you shouldn’t be applying make up or re-washing your face at the end of the day after this treatment anyway as your skin needs time to soak in the benefits of all of the treats you’ve given to it! So a night cream during the day or night post facial is A-Ok!

I apply this cream to face and neck and it has been a lovely addition to my routine! So decadent and works wonders in the summer when your skin has been exposed to some extra elements. Willow & Birch Apothecary also has a rose day cream which smells lovely and is lighter to wear underneath your make up! (Among many other gorgeous products found on the website.. soy candles, cafe mocha lip balms… all natural!)

The Result:

The following morning I woke up with glowing and even skin tone. I could feel my skin was plump from the added moisture. This skin care ritual is something I like to do at least once a week and each time I swap in different products to give my skin what it needs. Your skin is like your body when it comes to feeding, you don’t want to continuously feed it the same thing as it needs a whole rainbow of vitamins!

Take my advice, skip the expensive spa treatments and purchase some of these organic, cruelty free, non-gmo, all natural beauty treats! Your skin will thank you for it! xo
