How to boost the Health of your Skin: Mixing & Matching ‘Back to Basics Skincare’ Face Oils

March 29, 2017

You may have heard me rave about Back to Basics Skincare before, and it was so well deserved. This line of facial oils is to die for and I cannot get enough of what they have done for my face. I had the pleasure of testing out the rose hip radiance oil months ago and have a full review here. The Rose hip Radiance oil may actually be my top choice for a face oil and one that I think every skin conscious beauty needs in her bag of tricks. It is unbelievable that a face blend could feel and work so well for my rebellious skin. I loved this oil so much that I had to try the other two facial oils that are in the back to basics line, the Macadamia nut hydrating oil and the Avocado Repairing oil.

Once I had my hands on all three oils I knew I would be able to target any skin ailment with them: winter dryness, hormonal skin irritation, reduction of past sun damage and uneven skin tone, you name it, this oil will deliver the goods. As I expected, these oils work amazing both on their own or in conjunction with one another. After playing with these blends for a while I have noticed the following benefits from each:

Rose hip Radiance Oil ($48.00 USD)

When to use: ALL day everyday

Texture: Medium Weight, sinks into the skin within 30-60 seconds.

What it’s best for/Review: This is my go to. It seems to work for every twist and turn that my face throws at me, and boosts my skin profile by smoothing texture, eliminating redness, hydrating dry patches, working against fine lines and hyper pigmentation. The texture of this oil is one that I haven’t found anywhere else and it gives my skin an instant plumpness and silky texture. This face oil will be in my beauty cabinet forever, I will make it my mission to never run out of it. I can mix this oil with almost any serum, moisturizer, or additional oil to boost my skins nutrition profile.

Mix & Match: The Rosehip Radiance Oil mixes well with the other two oils in the Back to Basics Skincare line. For a moisture pack, blend the Rosehip Radiance oil with the Macadamia Nut Moisturizing Oil overnight and you will wake up with the most plump and radiant skin. To help reduce and prevent uneven skin tone or damage to the skin mix the Rosehip radiance oil with the Avocado Repair oil in the morning or at night. These two blends will help target different skin ailments with such success, you won’t be able to stop touching your skin.. I seriously haven’t!

Macadamia Nut Hydrating Oil ($48.00 USD)

When to use: Night time

Texture: Heavier Weight, sinks into skin within 25 minutes +.

What it’s best for/Review: I layer this oil with the rosehip radiance oil to add a boost of hydration to my skin. It’s a heavier oil and doesn’t absorb as quickly as the other two making it difficult to apply before makeup in the morning. I strongly suggest using this hydration potion at night and you will wake up with the most glowing and beautiful plump skin you could imagine.

Mix & Match: For a moisture pack, blend the Rosehip Radiance oil with the Macadamia Nut Hydrating oil. For the ultimate skin repair, blend this moisturizing potion before bedtime with the Avocado repair oil to help plump the skin while the repairing oil goes to work at uneven tones and imperfections simultaneously.

Avocado Repairing Oil ($48.00 USD)

When to use: Morning or Night

Texture: Light weight, sinks into the skin immediately after application.

What it’s best for/Review: This Oil is the lightest of all three oils and so it hides under makeup very well. It absorbs quickly and feels weightless on my skin. This oil is a dream when it comes to repairing damaged cells from sun exposure, elements, harsh skin routines from the past (ie. Astringent moisture stripping skin products) and skin conditions such as acne.

Mix & Match: For the ultimate in skin repair blend this moisturizing potion before bedtime with the Avocado repair oil to help plump the skin while the repairing oil goes to work at uneven tones and imperfections simultaneously. To help reduce and prevent uneven skin tone or damage to the skin mix the Rosehip radiance oil with the Avocado Repair oil in the morning or at night.

I can’t get enough of these oils and the way they target so many skin conditions all in one. I will be mixing and matching with these potions as my skin inevitably fluctuates to best serve its needs. If you want your own skin tool kit, you should check out these oils HERE.
