The Choosy Chick Shop Full Guide + Review

January 23, 2020

The more momentum the green beauty movement gets, the more and more I see high quality and well vetted shops pop up. This gives more options and ‘one stop shops’ are some of our best resources as they carry many products types and brands in one place. Bonus: you just pay one shipping price for a bulk order of all of your needs. I myself admit.. shopping for my own favourite natural products can get expensive while supporting small shops and shipping from different places. Finding boutiques that carry all the natural items you buy so you can continue to support the brands you love AND a small business shop owner truly is having your cake and eating it too. Not only does this lessen the burden on your wallet, but less packages coming from multiple sources reduces your carbon footprint. I luckily stumbled across the Choosy Chick Shop when the owner reached out to me. It’s a female run and owned small business and she’s such a lovely person. I’m going to share some of the products I have tried from the choosy chick recently as well as some of my old favourites and what you can expect to find in this shop. I’ll continue to update this post as I try new things to give you more ideas of what the best items are to try!

* This post includes some affiliate links. This means that any product purchased from my links will generate a small commission (At no extra cost to you). As always, I will only recommend brands that have passed my seal of approval and that I truly love.. these commissions help to cover Bloom + Clementine’s fees so that this website can stay alive and I can continue sharing my green beauty passion with you all. Thank you for supporting my little green space on the internet. *

In the age of huge corporations taking over the market, I really like having the opportunity to put my money towards a company that is smaller where the funds go to supporting a person and not a corrupt machine. Buying from small people run businesses has so many benefits and this shop is filled with a wide range of green and holistic products that I am really excited to share with you. From make up to skincare to hair care and all the way to sustainable first aid and children’s products.. you can really take advantage of the one stop shop aspect. Not only that, the prices of the products are not over the top.. the shop is well curated with plenty of well known products and brands in the wellness world.. but the owner has also curated these options keeping in mind that everyone has a different budget. As a Stay at home Mother of two small children and having my own single income family budget, this is something I really find can be lacking in boutique type shopping experiences. Being able to get high quality products for yourself and your family while maintaining a budget.. so this is truly something I can appreciate.

As you can see, LOTS of options in different aspects of natural living. So many options for children. But I wanted to touch on my top 3 most recent picks for items coming from this shop:

1. PATCH sustainable bamboo bandages

These bandaids are made completely of biodegradable bamboo instead of plastic. You get 25 in a box and they are equally fair priced compared to the plastic bandaids you find in the drugstore. Such a small switch in your life could make a huge impact on the environment. Not to mention, the bamboo fabric helps them to move with you. I had to put one on my finger due to a knife incident (of my entire family, I was first to need one of course zzz and I have two children!) and it didn’t bunch up or fall off due to being on a bendy and busy area. It was so comfortable!

These bandaids also come in four options. 1 regular option without any healing properties and 3 healing options. The healing options include holistic remedies that are in the pad of the bandaid. They are:

Coconut Oil for Scrapes, Cuts and Abrasions

Aloe Vera for Burns and Blisters

Activated Charcoal for Stings, Bites and Splinters

These added benefits help to speed healing and recovery for each ailment listed. I’ve been so impressed with them and would highly recommend them for everyone. Particularly Families with children BUT.. this sustainable option would truly be a great addition to ANYONES holistic first aid kit.

2. Kimberly Sayer of London SPF Daily Facial Moisturizer

I don’t completely block out the sun with SPF unless I am going for a beach day where my pale skin will most definitely burn from hours outside. There are so many benefits to allowing your body to absorb Vitamin D from the sun safely. BUT.. I do like to wear SPF on my face daily to combat premature aging from UV exposure. I have always found SPF for the face to be SO expensive. The prices just skyrocket as soon as you add sun protection to the mix of skincare for some reason. My favourite option is quite pricey but this moisturizer has become the one I reach for now. Not only does it protect me from the sun but it smells lovely (creme brûlée mixed with light citrus) AND is incredibly affordable. Not to mention, the size of the bottle is INCREDIBLY generous (it’s huge). So that well priced bottle of SPF will also last you much longer than other face SPF will. It’s seriously the best deal I’ve ever found when it comes to face spf. The bottle also has an air tight pump which pushed the moisturizer up towards the opening of the bottle so you get every last bit of product when you’re nearing the end of the bottle.

This is a products I highly suggest checking out!

3. Orgaid Organic Sheet Masks

Then there are these sheet masks by Orgaid that you can purchase as singles for a special treat every once in a while, or as a gift. You can also purchase them in packs of 4 if you like to keep a few on hand and save a few dollars with a bundled price point.

I personally really like the Vitamin C option as this creates a nice brightness to the skin and really improves dull skin in a quick treatment. Good to use before an event or when you need a bit of a pick me up for your skin. These are other options from Orgaid’s line of organic sheet masks:

• Vitamin C/Revitalizing

• Anti-aging/Moisturizing

• Greek Yogurt/Nourishing

These three options allow you to choose which treatment you need in the moment and having a few of each stashed away for a rainy day is a great idea!
