I’m always excited to try new cruelty free and natural Makeup lines and there are a lot of times where the testing phase just doesn’t pan out so I don’t share, but I REALLY wanted to share a real winner in my books today called Salty Girl Beauty. It is SO hard to perfect natural makeup and when a brand does, I must spread the wealth. Salty Girl Beauty makes their products with organic  and Non-GMO ingredients, all of which are cruelty free and vegan.

Salty Girl Beauty was started by two Sisters, Leah and Sarah, one of whom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer a few years ago. During her treatment, she and her sister (an Oncology Nurse) decided to dive deeper into what they put in and on their bodies. After their research was complete, they were determined to create a brand that stood for clean and organic ingredients that wouldn’t carry any potential harm into the bloodstream or beneath the skin. They also wanted to highlight the importance of Women feeling good in their skin by empowering Women to own their natural beauty, boldness, and strength (aka. “staying salty”, one of their coined hashtags for the brand). When I’m able to read and take in a brands story and how they began, its almost as if I become more connected to the products and I wanted to share where they are coming from so you all can appreciate the love and dedication that goes into this line. This story in particular was one that stood out to me. These Sisters really truly care what goes into their formulas and as someone who is conscious of that, I appreciate them. Salty Girl Beauty has also created a Charity called “Foundation4Love” where a percentage of profits go to adults dealing with Cancer diagnosis, a Foundation that truly adds to their story and what they represent.

I wanted to highlight a wide range of their makeup and body care line so I tried to choose products from every angle. I ended up testing their foundation (a real winner), their multisticks, lipsticks and body scrub, all of which were such a treat! I’ve included my review of each products as well as swatches below. I will start with my favourite product in their line, their foundation.

The Foundation

Foundations, to me, are the true test to a makeup brand. If you can get a foundation right, you can be certain they have really put thought and care into their line. In my opinion, it takes a LOT of hard work and testing of different formulas to perfect a foundation and if a brand has shown they’ve put their best foot forward in this department (a top notch complexion perfecter) they are not just throwing ingredients together to make a quick product.. they truly care about their brand and the performance of it all.

This foundation has been added to my foundation guide HERE, where you can read its full stats, my mini review and more. For now, I’ll attest to its’ ability to cover the skin without looking cakey or thick. It is probably between mid to full coverage and is buildable. It is a luminous foundation but can be mattified with a setting powder if that’s your desired look and it doesn’t cause ANY irritation to my skin. This had become my #1 choice for natural and cruelty free foundations and that’s saying a lot as I’ve tested SO so many over the years. In fact, this foundation may be sitting pretty at the top of my recommendations and one that I’ve been reaching for daily as its JUST. THAT. GOOD. I’m just so in awe of this creation!

The Multisticks

I was fortunate enough to have been gifted all four of these multisticks to be able to swatch them for you guys. Between the four tones, there is one highlighter, a pink tone, a coral tone and a soft plum/berry tone. They are so versatile and anyone who wishes for more of a minimalist makeup routine should be investing in a multistick, they are formulated to use on the cheeks, lips and eyes so they really are your best friend when it comes to multi tasking.

Salty girl beauty has created a really light weight yet creamy formula that doesn’t sit heavily on the skin and blends in beautifully. This is something that isn’t necessarily universal amongst all brands as I have used many multisticks that were thick, heavy feeling and difficult to glide across the skin. Their pigments are so pretty and are sheer at first swipe but buildable to an impressive amount of pigment. You can apply these shades right from the stick itself or you can choose to use brushes or sponges to give a pop of colour to the skin. I especially love having one of the cheek colours available in my purse to add some flush to my skin in the middle of the day when my tired Mom face stars showing and I begin to look dull and grey. Nothing beats exhaustion better than a blush on the cheeks! You can trust me on that.

Here are the four shades and some swatches (unedited and in natural light) so you can choose what shade is best for you.

Stephanie– Sheer Berry

Ali– Pink Peach

Lindsey– Coral Peach

Melissa– Soft pink hued highlighter

The Lipsticks

Salty girl also has a line of lip stick colours and has a really nice range of shades. I tried two of their shades from the line: a classic nude and a soft pink. The colours are perfect everyday wear shades and I have been putting them in my rotation of daily lip colours. They work really well for my skin tone which I would describe as fair with neutral undertones. The formula of these lipsticks are slightly heavier than the multisticks which ensures the colour will hold better through out the day on the lips, but it will not tug on the lips during application and instead glides on with ease. It is a nourishing, non drying, non sticky formulas and does not feel tacky or thick.

Here are swatches (photo below) unedited and in natural light for your reference. They are pictured in the order listed below:

Trish – classic nude

Rosa– soft petal pink

The Body Scrub

Salty girl beauty has both a makeup and body care so I wanted to be sure I was able to test the full range. Nothing is more exciting to me than a body scrub when it comes to body care products. I love a good scrub to get rid of dead skin cells and I personally find this to be one of the most satisfying body hygeine practices around. Exfoliation, cleansing and if you’re using a moisturizing scrub (like this one) you get hydration too!

I chose the peppermint and tea Tree scent as it sounded both invigorating (good to get me up and ready for the day thanks to the peppermint) and skin saving (tea Tree oil is antibacterial and works to combat acne breakouts).

The Full Ingredient Deck:

organic sugar (sucrose), sea salt, organic sunflower oil (helianthus annuus) Organic meadowfoam seed oil (limnanthes alba), glycerin, organic shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), vitamin E (tocopherol), peppermint essential oil; tea tree essential oil

As I’m sure you’ve figured out in this article, I’ve really fallen in love with this line. If you want a good coverage foundation, Multisticks in gorgeous colours that you can pop in your purse, and lip colours that add that extra edge in the most beautiful formulas, and a decadent scrub that invigorates and hydrates the skin.. then this is a place to go! You can check out all of the products in every shade on Salty Girl’s website HERE.
